TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan faces scorching temperatures exceeding 30 degrees Celsius (86°F) Tuesday (Sept. 30) as a Pacific high-pressure system dominates regional weather patterns. The Central Weather Administration (CWA, 中央氣象局), Taiwan's meteorological agency, warned temperatures could reach 35 to 36 degrees Celsius (95 to 97°F) in central and southern Taiwan and Greater Taipei. Afternoon thunderstorms threaten these regions throughout the week amid the intense heat wave conditions.
WeatherRisk Explore Inc. (天氣風險公司) analyst Hsueh Hao-tien (薛皓天) predicted significant temperature drops in northern and eastern Taiwan during upcoming National Day of the Republic of China holidays, Taiwan's national day. The first northeast monsoon and weather front moving south will bring relief from current heat conditions. Hsueh warned an approaching tropical system before the holiday could alter the northeast monsoon's arrival timing.
The CWA emphasized a tropical disturbance could develop east of the Philippines, potentially affecting the monsoon's southward movement and Taiwan's weather transition. Officials stated clarity on this weather pattern should emerge by the weekend as meteorological conditions evolve. Meteorologists urged residents to monitor weather updates closely, warning the tropical system could disrupt holiday travel and outdoor activities. ◼
