TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taoyuan International Airport expects 1.51 million passengers during the Oct. 3-13 holiday period, prompting officials to advise three-hour early arrivals. The Taoyuan International Airport Corporation Limited (桃園國際機場股份有限公司), Taiwan's main international gateway operator, announced the projections Thursday (Oct. 3) while urging travelers to use smart services for streamlined processing.

Airport officials project 137,000 daily passengers and 743 daily flights throughout the holiday surge. Authorities encourage travelers to utilize mobile check-in, online services, city check-in facilities, self-service kiosks, and automated bag-drop systems. These digital solutions aim to reduce congestion and expedite passenger processing during peak travel periods.

Airport authorities coordinated with airlines and C.I.Q.S. units — customs, immigration, quarantine, and security agencies — to manage the travel surge. National airlines report outbound travel will peak two days before Mid-Autumn Festival. Officials plan strengthened preparations and increased staffing to maintain operational safety and protect passenger rights.

Foreign travelers must complete electronic Taiwan Arrival Card (TWAC) forms online starting Wednesday (Oct. 1), accessible three days before arrival. The Ministry of the Interior's (內政部) immigration services provides multilingual forms in seven languages including English, Japanese, and Korean. Airport websites offer direct access to streamline the digital documentation process.

Airport officials urge departing passengers to verify security regulations while warning arriving travelers against bringing prohibited meat products. Authorities recommend public transportation including buses and Airport MRT — Taiwan's mass rapid transit system — to reduce congestion. Real-time traffic and parking updates remain available through official mobile applications and websites. ◼
