TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's Department of Labor (台北市勞動局) announced Tuesday (Oct. 7) that the Taipei International Labor Film Festival (2025台北勞工影展) will showcase 16 domestic and international films from Oct. 25 to 31. The festival takes place at eslite art house (誠品電影院) in Songshan Cultural Park (松山文創), a major cultural venue in Taipei. The comprehensive event aims to highlight pressing global labor issues through powerful cinema storytelling.
Eight films received nominations for the 19th Labor Film Awards (勞動金像獎), hosted by the Department of Labor, Taipei's municipal labor authority. Audiences can secure free tickets starting Wednesday (Oct. 8) on the KKTIX platform, Taiwan's major ticketing service. This comprehensive initiative seeks to engage broader audiences in critical discussions about contemporary labor issues and workplace challenges.
International films include "Late Shift," which explores intense pressures faced by healthcare workers in demanding medical environments. Peggy Tseng (曾珮瑜), the festival's ambassador, praised the film for its realistic portrayal of contemporary workplace challenges. Other notable international selections include "The Way We Talk" (看我今天怎麼說), "The Last Dance" (破地獄), and "Miyazaki, Spirit of Nature."
The festival screens Labor Film Awards nominees including "Midnight Screening" (午夜放映) and "Happy Together - Surviving at Work" (極樂世界3—好好工作・工作好好). Chiang Ming-chih (江明志), deputy director of the Department of Labor, Taipei's municipal labor authority, emphasized documentaries' power to convey truth about workplace realities. The prestigious awards ceremony takes place on Oct. 25.
