TAIPEI (TVBS News) — On Wednesday (Oct. 22), Minister of Culture Li Yuan (李遠) attended the Taiwan Technology X Culture Expo (台灣文化科技大會, TTXC) in Kaohsiung, experiencing the award-winning VR piece, "The Clouds Are Two Thousand Meters Up" (雲在兩千米). Adapted from Wu Ming-i's (吳明益) work, this VR experience quickly sold out, captivating audiences with its poignant narrative of a man's search for his deceased wife.
XR DREAMLAND is an essential part of TTXC, offering audiences an immersive experience at the intersection of art and extended reality. This exciting event runs from October 21 to 26 at the Pier-2 Art Centre(駁二藝術特區), featuring two main venues: the P3 Warehouse and the VR FILM LAB. Visitors can explore cutting-edge XR content throughout the week, with the P3 Warehouse open daily from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM, and the VR FILM LAB open from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, seven days a week.
The Ministry of Culture and Kaohsiung City Government co-hosted the TTXC Expo, featuring displays like "Kaohsiung VR FILM LAB Originals" (高雄原創VR)and "XR Spotlight."(XR大觀) Li highlighted the innovative ways in which Taiwan's younger generation interprets local culture, emphasizing Kaohsiung's pivotal role in the development of cultural technology. "The Clouds Are Two Thousand Meters Up"(雲在兩千米), part of the "Kaohsiung VR FILM LAB Originals" segment, previously won the Best Immersive Experience Award at the 2025 Venice Film Festival.
This year's TTXC Expo introduced an international symposium for the first time. Attendees included Arif Khan, Creative Experience Director at Universal Studios Japan, and Daniel Son, founder of South Korea's visual effects company, Westworld. Kaohsiung Deputy Mayor Li Huai-jen (李懷仁) expressed hopes for TTXC to become a platform for cultural and technological exchange, underscoring its impact on future generations.
