TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Chimei Museum (奇美博物館) in Tainan is gearing up for a monumental collaboration with the British Museum (大英博物館). The exhibition, "Pharaoh: King of Egypt" (埃及之王:法老), will open on Jan. 29, 2026, showcasing 280 ancient Egyptian artifacts. This partnership underscores Tainan's growing influence on the international art and culture stage, drawing global attention.

Silks Place Tainan (台南晶英酒店) is offering a special accommodation package, the "2026 Chimei Museum Special Exhibition", to complement the exhibition. Starting at NT$8,888 per night, the package includes high-end lodging and complimentary, reservation-free tickets to the exhibition. Guests will also receive Egyptian-themed chocolates. The hotel package will be available through the end of 2026, aligning with the exhibition's duration.

The exhibition will explore the reigns, beliefs, and wars of pharaohs from an "imperial perspective." Notable artifacts include The Younger Memnon (拉美西斯二世巨拳) and remnants of Tutankhamun (圖坦卡門殘軀). The collaboration between Chimei Museum and the British Museum signifies Tainan's prominence in the global art scene.

The Guan-Zi-Ling Hot Spring & Gourmet Festival (2025臺南關子嶺溫泉美食節) kicked off with a lighting ceremony on Oct. 18. It will officially open on Saturday (Oct. 25). The festival will feature mushroom chicken soup, a parade with the theme of Hyakki Yagyo (Night Parade of One Hundred Demons), and nighttime art installations. The Tourism Bureau of Tainan City Government advises avoiding the hot spring area from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Oct. 25 due to traffic restrictions.
