TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Pegatron (和碩) launched a NT$700 million (around US$22.9 million) digital transformation training base Tuesday (Oct. 28) in Kaohsiung's Asia New Bay Area (亞灣). The tech giant will establish a second R&D center over three years, targeting southern Taiwan's AI and smart manufacturing development. The facility features four specialized centers to advance regional digital transformation capabilities.
Chairman T.H. Tung (童子賢) called the facility a crucial milestone in Pegatron's transformation journey. Tung emphasized the base's role in advancing 5G and automation technology research in southern Taiwan. The company commits to nurturing regional talent while focusing on smart manufacturing and AIoT development.
The facility houses four specialized centers: southern R&D, AI computing power, smart manufacturing co-creation, and training exhibition centers. Deputy Minister of Economic Affairs Ho Chin-tsang (何晉滄) highlighted government collaboration with Kaohsiung since 2021. The ministry invested NT$14.5 billion (around US$473.4 million) fostering southern high-tech industries including 5G, AI, and IoT.
Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chi-mai (陳其邁) expressed optimism about the city's industrial upgrade through Pegatron's strategic investment. General Manager Feng Chen-yu (馮震宇) showcased AI, 5G, and automation technology applications at the facility.
