TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC, 亞太經濟合作會議) Leaders' Summit began Friday (Oct. 31) in South Korea with Taiwan's representative participating. Lin Hsin-i (林信義) arrived at 9:30 a.m. South Korean time wearing formal diplomatic attire. South Korean President Lee Jae-myung welcomed delegates from various Asia-Pacific nations.

The APEC venue announced Lin as "Chinese Taipei Representative (Chairman) Lin Hsin-i" upon entrance. Lin exchanged brief pleasantries with President Lee before proceeding to summit proceedings. Official broadcasts displayed the flag of the Republic of China (Taiwan), labeling Taiwan a "major economic partner" and "chip industry competitor".

KTV, South Korea's state-run television, displayed Taiwan's flag during broadcast coverage. The United States sent Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent following President Trump's Thursday (Oct. 30) departure. President Xi Jinping (習近平) entered last, photographing with President Lee before proceeding inside. ◼
