TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Kaohsiung City Department of Tourism (高雄市政府觀光局) announced on Friday (Oct. 31) that the "East Kaohsiung Chill in the Wild: Liugui" fair will launch on Nov. 8 at the Sinkai Memorial Park (新開紀念公園) in Liugui (六龜). With the theme "An Invitation Drifting to the Land," the event aims to celebrate the region's natural beauty and cultural richness.

The event will feature a cross-border market, inviting specialty vendors from Japan's Kumamoto region to promote cultural exchange between Taiwan and Japan. Golden Melody Award-winning artists, such as Fire EX. (滅火器) and Enno Cheng (鄭宜農), will also perform alongside over 40 Taiwan and Japan vendors.

Director of Kaohsiung's Department of Tourism Kao Min-lin (高閔琳) highlighted the region's appeal, noting its magnificent mountains, simple folk, and rich local culture that make it a compelling destination for exploration. She stated that the Liugui area is renowned for its carbonated beauty baths and scenic spots, like the Laonong Valley (荖濃溪谷).

The event also features workshops led by local artisans, including the Hanaku Wild Indigenous Taiwan Mountain Tea (哈娜谷原生野山茶工坊), which offers DIY experiences in tea brewing, traditional pastry making, and weaving. The Taiwan-Japan Cultural Creative Market will showcase a range of products, including coffee, dried fruits, and handmade crafts, from both regions. Japanese vendors, including sanno\_pottery and Pass it on, will also offer their specialties.

The Department encourages visitors to explore the hidden gems of Qishan (旗山), Meinong (美濃), and Liugui through five themed tours featuring 11 curated itineraries. The Tourism Department invites domestic and international tourists to experience the area's unique history, landscapes, and cultural diversity.
