TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Friday (Oct. 31) the successful completion of the inaugural "Proposal-Based Dream-Building Plan for Youth Ambassadors from Allied Countries" program. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Wu Chih-chung (吳志中) attended the ceremony on Thursday (Oct. 30), encouraging the participants to become young ambassadors to promote relations between Taiwan and its allied nations.
Wu represented Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung (林佳龍) at the ceremony, congratulating 19 young participants from 11 of Taiwan's allied countries. The event also featured the attendance of ambassadors such as Lily Tangisia Faavae from Tuvalu and Darío Filártiga Ruiz Díaz from Paraguay, alongside other diplomatic representatives and officials.
Wu highlighted the foundation of Taiwan's friendships with its allies, built on mutual trust, benefit, and shared values. He noted that the one-month course covered fields such as smart agriculture and sustainable tourism, providing participants with new knowledge and inspiration. Wu emphasized that President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) proposed the plan during his visit to the Marshall Islands last year, showcasing Taiwan's commitment to youth exchange and strengthening ties with allied countries.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the program is a key component of the "Youth Dream Fulfillment Program with a NT$10 Billion Overseas Fund," aiming to promote international connections and cooperation among the younger generation. Following the arrival of the first "Program-Based" participants in July, this course focused on innovative proposals and practical exchanges, encouraging allied youth to fulfill their dreams in Taiwan and apply their learnings to foster sustainable development in their home countries.
