TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's weather agency warns a tropical disturbance near Guam could intensify into a storm by weekend, potentially tracking toward Taiwan. The Central Weather Administration (CWA, 中央氣象署) expects the system to develop into a tropical depression Wednesday (Nov. 6). Meteorologist Wu De-romg (吳德榮) from National Central University (NCU, 中央大學) reports simulations show a northward trajectory near Taiwan.

Wu cautioned that uncertainty remains high regarding the storm's development and path. Both the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) and Global Ensemble Forecast System (GEFS) show similar northward trajectories near Taiwan. However, significant variability in individual path models underscores the system's unpredictability.

Wu reported that Taiwan currently faces northeast monsoon conditions bringing localized showers to northern regions including Yilan and Hualien. Other areas experience partly cloudy to sunny conditions. Another monsoon wave from Wednesday (Nov. 6) through Sunday will bring cooler temperatures and rain to northern Taiwan and Yilan. ◼
