TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taimali railway station (太麻里站) attracts wedding photographers and tourists with its new daylily-inspired canopy design Monday (Nov. 10). Deputy Minister of Transportation and Communications Wu Sheng-yuan (伍勝園) inspected the aesthetic enhancements, promoting the station as a scenic destination. The completed project transforms the platform into a popular selfie hotspot.

The Railway Bureau (鐵道局) upgraded nine stations along the South Link Line (南迴線), including Jinlun (金崙), Kangle (康樂), Nanzhou (南州), Jiadong (佳冬), Jialu (加祿), and Neishi (內獅). Taiwan Railway Corporation, Ltd. (台鐵) enhanced station aesthetics and functionality across the network. Taimali Station features a sea-view plaza and sunrise avenue showcasing the South Link Railway's natural beauty.

Railway officials prioritize user experience through subtractive design, reducing visual clutter with contemporary materials and lightweight structures. Wu Sheng-yuan emphasized the upgrades boost tourism's soft power beyond basic infrastructure improvements. The deputy minister expects project completion by December 2025.

A nearby railway crossing gained fame for resembling a scene from Japanese anime "Slam Dunk" with ocean and blue sky backdrops. Zhiben Station (知本) features wooden forest-inspired structures while Dawu Station (大武) showcases mountain-themed membrane canopies. Both stations embrace local environmental themes in their aesthetic designs. ◼
