TAIPEI (TVBS News) — China Airlines (中華航空) launched Taiwan's first Disney-themed aircraft on Wednesday (Nov. 19), marking a milestone in aviation collaboration. The aircraft, featuring characters Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps from "Zootopia," embarked on its inaugural flight from Taipei to Los Angeles.

President of China Airlines Kao Shing-hwang (高星潢) expressed optimism about future collaborations with Disney, stating that he looks forward to more partnerships. General Manager Kevin Chen (陳漢銘) noted the excitement among travelers, who eagerly booked tickets for the maiden voyage. The 777-300ER aircraft features movie-themed designs, including headrest covers and stickers for children.

China Airlines has also introduced exclusive "Zootopia 2" themed inflight items, including aircraft-shaped balloons as gifts for young passengers. The themed aircraft will initially serve routes to Los Angeles, Ontario, Bangkok, Tokyo, and Osaka, coinciding with the movie's release on Nov. 26 in Taiwan.

Recent statistics reveal that EVA Air, China Airlines, Starlux Airlines, and Tigerair Taiwan achieved record-breaking operational performances in October 2025. This trend reflects the airlines' aggressive strategies to capture the lucrative year-end travel market. The competition extends beyond ticket prices, with airlines enhancing ground and cabin services, including high-speed internet and private business cabins.

Despite concerns that rising Taiwanese travel to Japan may affect ticket prices, airlines have assured that there will be no price adjustments. Looking ahead, China Airlines plans to introduce the 787-9 in 2026, aiming to expand its fleet to 75 passenger aircraft and enhance long-haul capabilities.
