TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwanese boxer Chen Nien-chin (陳念琴) has won gold in the women's 65-kilogram (143-pound) category at the World Boxing year-end finals in India. Chen defeated England's Dione Burman (柏曼) by a 4-1 decision on Thursday (Nov. 20) in Greater Noida.
The gold medalist credited strategic preparation for her dominant performance. Chen highlighted National Tsing Hua University's (NTHU, 清華大學) analytics team who helped her understand Burman's fighting style through video analysis. She dominated from the opening round despite never previously facing the English boxer.
"It's an honor to win my final match of the year," Chen said, praising her team's perseverance through challenges. Two other Taiwanese boxers, Wu Shih-yi (吳詩儀) and Kuo Yi-hsuan (郭怡萱), captured silver medals in their weight divisions at the same tournament. ◼
