Hung sharply criticized Takaichi's recent controversial remarks suggesting "Taiwan's issues are Japan's issues," which have significantly escalated diplomatic tensions between Japan and China and potentially destabilized regional security dynamics.
Hung emphasized that Taiwan must strictly adhere to the "1992 Consensus," which formally recognizes "one China" as the essential political foundation for maintaining cross-strait peace and stability. The former KMT leader argued that only by fully acknowledging and implementing this consensus can Taiwan ensure its long-term security and achieve lasting peace with China. Hung stated that Taiwan can only achieve true safety and prosperity by actively exploring a peaceful path toward eventual unification with the mainland.
Hung also sharply criticized Taiwan's current administration, led by President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP, 民進黨), for its complete inability to handle the deteriorating situation calmly and maintain regional stability. She harshly described the government's overall approach as fundamentally ineffective and dangerously ideologically driven rather than pragmatically focused. According to Hung's analysis, Taiwan currently faces two equally dangerous destabilizing forces: Takaichi's irresponsible inflammatory actions and the current administration's demonstrated incompetence in crisis management.
Hung made these comprehensive political comments in a detailed Facebook post specifically commemorating the Kuomintang's anniversary, where she extensively praised party members for their steadfast beliefs and unwavering commitment. She called for the KMT to transform itself into a major stabilizing force under the experienced leadership of current Chairperson Cheng Li-wun (鄭麗文).
