TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan experienced mainly clear skies Monday (Nov. 24) with scattered evening showers along Keelung's northern coast, the Central Weather Administration (CWA, 中央氣象署) officially reported. Moisture levels increased significantly later in the day, causing localized rain in windward areas including Yilan and Greater Taipei regions. The current weather pattern reflects typical late autumn conditions across the island nation.
Meteorologist Wu Der-romg (吳德榮) highlighted a significant tropical disturbance developing east of the Philippines, expected to move west toward Vietnam without affecting Taiwan. The northeast monsoon will intensify Monday night, bringing notable temperature drops in northern Taiwan regions. Wu noted warm daytime conditions with cooler mornings and evenings across the entire region.
Daytime temperatures Monday ranged from 26 to 29 degrees Celsius (79 to 84°F), while nighttime lows varied from 16 to 21 degrees Celsius (61 to 70°F) across Taiwan. Hsinchu's Guanxi Township (關西) recorded a morning low of 12.9 degrees Celsius (55°F), with other areas experiencing lows around 15 or 16 degrees Celsius (59 to 61°F). Offshore islands experienced varied weather conditions, with Penghu remaining mainly cloudy and temperatures between 21 and 24 degrees Celsius (70 to 75°F).
Wu forecasted drier air moving south Tuesday (Nov. 25), leading to significantly clearer skies in western Taiwan regions. The northeast monsoon will weaken by Wednesday (Nov. 26), resulting in stable and sunny weather conditions across the island. The monsoon will strengthen again Thursday (Nov. 27), increasing rain chances in windward areas significantly.
