TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A fashion trend combining leather jackets, short skirts, and long boots has swept Taipei's Xinyi District (信義區) as winter approaches. A street survey Wednesday (Nov. 26) at a busy intersection revealed at least 10 women wearing this ensemble within just two minutes. The outfit provides warmth while enhancing body proportions, making wearers appear slimmer and taller, fashion observers noted.

A local shoe retailer attributed the trend to Korean girl group influence, reporting a 30% increase in related shoe sales in recent weeks. Residents and fashion observers noted the style makes legs appear longer, with boots offering a subtle height boost and improved overall proportions. The fashion combination has become increasingly widespread across Taipei's premier shopping district as temperatures drop.

Social media platform Threads featured lively discussions about the leather jacket, short skirt, and boots combination, with users describing it as a basic yet foolproof fashion formula. Many commenters agreed the style creates a noticeable slimming effect and enhances body proportions. One user humorously noted women embodied the saying "no pain, no gain," referencing the balance between fashion appeal and comfort in cold weather.

Fashion stylists and industry experts explained that boots, both long and short styles, enhance overall body proportions while aligning with global fall and winter fashion trends. Luxury brands released diverse leather collections this year featuring cut-out elements or cropped designs, moving away from traditional bulky leather jackets. Men's fashion trends simultaneously favor tapered or wide pants, creating a narrow-top, wide-bottom silhouette.

Chan Yu-hsin (詹瑀馨), a brand manager for a women's footwear company, attributed the rising boot trend to the increased frequency of Korean girl group concerts held in Taiwan throughout this year. Many young fans aspire to wear the same styles as their K-pop idols, prompting footwear brands to offer diverse materials and cuts that balance warmth with fashion appeal. The phenomenon reflects the broader cultural influence of Korean entertainment on Taiwan's evolving fashion landscape and consumer preferences. ◼
