TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's Coast Guard Administration (海巡署) confronted four China Coast Guard vessels that entered Kinmen waters Friday (Nov. 28), rejecting Beijing's characterization of the incursion as "routine law enforcement patrol" and labeling it "routine harassment." Taiwan detected the Chinese ships near Kinmen, a Taiwanese-controlled island group located just kilometers from mainland China, around 8 a.m. and immediately deployed multiple patrol boats to intercept and monitor the vessels.

Four China Coast Guard ships—numbered "14603," "14605," "14515," and "14529"—split into two groups and entered Taiwan's restricted waters by 8:50 a.m. The vessels approached from the east of Liaoluo Bay (料羅) and southwest of Lieyu Island (烈嶼). Taiwan's Coast Guard Administration dispatched four patrol boats that conducted parallel monitoring, executed blocking maneuvers, and broadcast bilingual warnings demanding the Chinese vessels leave immediately.

The Chinese ships departed Kinmen's restricted waters at 10:50 a.m. under close surveillance from Taiwan's patrol boats. Taiwan's Coast Guard Administration disputed China's official characterization of the incident. The China Coast Guard's website claimed Fujian's coast guard conducted a "routine law enforcement patrol near Kinmen," but Taiwan asserts this statement does not align with the facts. ◼
