TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Tainan City Government (台南市政府) and the Asian Taiwanese Chambers of Commerce (亞洲台灣商會聯合總會) signed a memorandum of understanding on a "Three-in-One Green Passage" collaboration on Sunday (Dec. 7). Tung Chen-yuan (童振源), Taiwan's representative to Singapore, emphasized the initiative as a bridge for overseas Taiwanese businesses and a launchpad for administrative cooperation.
Tung noted that Taiwanese businesses have long accumulated market experience, connections, and resources abroad, making them an indispensable force for Taiwan. However, he acknowledged that these businesses often face challenges such as administrative procedures, information gaps, and local policy discrepancies when investing back in Taiwan. Tung highlighted the significance of the collaboration, noting its direct, fast, and bidirectional nature. He pointed out that a single-window setup allows the 24,000 member enterprises of ATCC to communicate directly with Tainan's core team. This streamlined approach aims to enhance efficiency and foster stronger ties.
Tainan boasts a complete supply chain in sectors like semiconductors, green energy, precision manufacturing, optics, automotive components, agricultural processing, and medical equipment. The Asian network accumulated by ATCC serves as a vital international bridge for Tainan's enterprises, enabling them to reach broader markets.
Tung suggested that future visits by ATCC to Tainan should delve into industry sites, allowing overseas enterprises to witness Tainan's industrial strengths firsthand. Such visits would also enhance assistance and tracking for each interaction. Tainan has rapidly become a crucial node in the global supply chain, with the Southern Taiwan Science Park's output frequently breaking records and advanced processes elevating the region's semiconductor industry on the international stage. ATCC plans to hold a board meeting in Singapore on Wednesday (Dec. 10) to further discuss details of the collaboration, potentially paving the way for deeper integration and mutual growth.
