TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Asian Taiwanese Chambers of Commerce (亞洲台灣商會聯合總會) convened a pivotal trade and economic forum in Singapore on Wednesday (Dec. 10), emphasizing the significant role of Taiwanese businesses in driving Taiwan's economic miracle. Hsieh Chin-ho (謝金河), chairman of Wealth Media (財信傳媒), highlighted the need for businesses to adapt to the AI revolution, which positions power as a key foundation.
Hsieh noted that Taiwanese companies must rethink their strategies to maintain a competitive edge in the evolving AI landscape. The forum, themed "Geopolitical Risks and New Opportunities for Taiwanese Business Layout," featured various experts and scholars discussing business and economic issues. Notable attendees included Tung Chen-yuan (童振源), Taiwan's representative to Singapore; Chen Shu-chin (陳舒琴), the 33rd president of the ATCC; and Huang Chih-fang (黃志芳), chairman of the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (外貿協會).
Tung emphasized the ATCC's role as a crucial platform for connecting Taiwanese businesses across Asia, enhancing regional economic cooperation, and expanding Taiwan's presence overseas. He also noted the ATCC's significant contribution to Taiwan's New Southbound Policy. In 2024, Taiwan's trade with Singapore defied global trends, growing by 10.6%, and total bilateral trade reached US$43.4 billion. Official figures show Taiwan invested US$5.79 billion in Singapore in 2024. Hsieh expressed admiration for Taiwanese businesses' perseverance in overseas endeavors, underscoring their vital contribution to Taiwan's global economic footprint.
