TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Wowprime Group (王品集團) targets NT$20 billion (around US$635 million) revenue for 2026 and plans 50 new stores, Chairman Chen Cheng-hui (陳正輝) announced Thursday (Dec. 18). Wowprime hosted a year-end banquet at Nangang Exhibition Center (南港展覽館) featuring nearly 1,000 tables. The band Bestards (理想混蛋), cheerleading squad Dragon Beauties (味全龍啦啦隊), and band Power Station (動力火車) performed at the celebration.
Restaurant chain New Palace International (新天地) received orders for over 10,000 tables, with technology companies accounting for 60%. The overwhelming demand reflects robust corporate profits this year. Wowprime prepared 3,000 prizes, including a top prize of NT$50,000 (around US$1,587) for 15 winners. The company offers travel subsidies of NT$19,000 (around US$603) for destinations including Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Japan, and Egypt.
Tech giants Qisda (佳世達) and ASUS (華碩) hosted similar events featuring singers Yoga Lin (林宥嘉) and A-Lin. Quanta Computer (廣達) schedules its banquet for Wednesday (Jan. 15) featuring singer Jam Hsiao (蕭敬騰). Compal Electronics (仁寶) hosts its event on Wednesday (Jan. 22) with band Accusefive (告五人) and singer Ricky Hsiao (蕭煌奇). Hi-Lai Foods (漢來美食) reports that the electronics and real estate industries account for 30% of Kaohsiung events, with over 100 tables.
Known as "weiya" (尾牙), these year-end banquets demonstrate a company's appreciation for its employees' work. Modern celebrations feature hired performers and prize draws, evolving from traditional religious ceremonies. Employees receive year-end bonuses based on company performance.
