TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The New Taipei Kings (新北國王) will retire Jeremy Lin's (林書豪) jersey Saturday (Dec. 28) at Xinzhuang Gymnasium in a ceremony themed "Linsanity Forever." The Kings invited Chinese hip-hop artist E.SO (瘦子) to perform and pay tribute to Lin's "Linsanity" spirit through music. The ceremony celebrates Lin's illustrious basketball career and global impact on the sport.
E.SO ranks among the most influential figures in the Mandarin hip-hop scene, blending hip-hop with R&B, jazz, and blues elements in his distinctive sound. His music integrates personal life experiences and inner emotions into powerful melodies that resonate with audiences. His distinctive musical style and commanding stage presence have made him a defining symbol on Taiwan's mainstream music stage.
Lin made history in 2012 by sparking the "Linsanity" phenomenon with the New York Knicks, becoming the first Asian American to win an NBA championship. His influence resonated with Chinese communities worldwide during his NBA career. Lin joined the New Taipei Kings in the P. LEAGUE+ (PLG), a professional basketball league, alongside his brother Joseph Lin (林書緯), capturing the 2024 PLG championship.
Lin will attend the jersey retirement ceremony Saturday (Dec. 28) to share this milestone with fans. Lin secured the 2025 TPBL championship and Finals MVP honors with the New Taipei Kings in the Taiwan Professional Basketball League (TPBL), another professional league.
