TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Ministry of Economic Affairs (經濟部) launched the "SelectUSA Tech Training Program" on Friday (Jan. 9), marking the beginning of a four-month intensive course for 20 selected Taiwanese startups. The program aims to prepare these teams for international competition and training, highlighting the ongoing collaboration between Taiwan and the United States in the startup ecosystem.

Since 2022, the Ministry of Economic Affairs has organized Taiwanese startup delegations for SelectUSA events, emphasizing the U.S. as a crucial market and partner. This year, the selected startups span five key sectors: health tech, defense tech, energy tech, ICT/software, and open tech. Their technological applications focus on artificial intelligence and medical data.

A representative from the American Institute in Taiwan (美國在台協會) attended the launch ceremony to share insights into U.S. market and investment trends. The representative also assisted startups in enhancing their documentation and presentation skills, crucial for their success in international arenas.

The 2026 SelectUSA Investment Summit, organized by the U.S. Department of Commerce, will take place from May 3 to 6 in Maryland. The summit's "Tech Program" serves as a vital platform for international startups entering the U.S. market. In addition to participating in the competition, the Taiwanese delegation plans to visit Silicon Valley and Los Angeles, aiming to connect with local startup ecosystems and boost their international visibility.

The Ministry of Economic Affairs remains committed to supporting Taiwanese startups in their international endeavors. The ministry plans to continue leveraging international exhibitions and promoting cross-border business matchmaking to help more Taiwanese startups reach global markets.
