TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Taipei City Government (台北市政府) and the Ministry of Transportation and Communications (交通部) conducted a high-intensity, indiscriminate attack simulation at Taipei Station (台北車站) on Thursday (Jan. 22) from 2 to 3 p.m. The drill aimed to familiarize the public with emergency alerts and ensure swift evacuation during major disasters. Officials sent cell broadcast messages during the exercise, advising recipients to remain calm.

Taiwan Railways Administration (台鐵) coordinated the drill, which involved police, fire, medical, and other stationed units. They performed controlled evacuations and guided travelers and passersby through the process. The administration urged everyone to cooperate with on-site personnel and emphasized the importance of public participation in such simulations.

The exercise covered a 1-kilometer radius around Taipei Station, including all four rail systems, the underground mall, and Breeze Plaza (微風廣場). It featured realistic scenarios, including confrontations, screams, and evacuation scenes, to test emergency response and coordination mechanisms.

Officials advised calmness when encountering police, firefighters, or simulated scenarios during the drill. They recommended that travelers adjust their schedules to avoid delays due to control measures. The simulation served as a crucial test of the emergency systems' readiness and effectiveness, with future drills expected to continue enhancing public safety and preparedness.
