TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Hundreds of fans gathered at A11 Breeze Plaza in Taipei's Xinyi District on Friday (Jan. 23) to see Ok Taecyeon (옥택연, 玉澤演), a member of South Korean boy band 2PM, at a brand's product launch event. The K-pop star and actor engaged the crowd with warm greetings, waving and posing with products. Ok Taecyeon debuted with 2PM in 2008 and has since become known for his "beast idol" image and successful transition into acting.
Ok Taecyeon told the crowd, "I'm back! Hello everyone, it's been a while since we last met. I'm truly delighted to see you all today!" During the event, he announced, "I'm preparing for the 2PM concert!" Ok Taecyeon shared his experience filming a movie in Taichung, Taiwan, last year, which excited the audience. He became a prominent figure in the second generation of K-pop and later transitioned successfully into acting and singing.
In 2017, Ok Taecyeon enlisted in the South Korean military, giving up his U.S. permanent residency to serve on active duty after herniated disc surgery, earning praise from South Korean society. In November 2025, he co-starred with Girls' Generation's Seohyun (서현, 徐玄), a member of another prominent K-pop group, in the drama "The First Night with the Duke" (奪走男主的初夜), which received favorable reviews.
Ok has also announced his marriage to his long-term non-celebrity girlfriend, sharing his emotions through a handwritten letter that moved many fans. The announcement added to the excitement surrounding his Taipei appearance and ongoing career developments.
