Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC, 台積電) led the charge, rising NT$25 (around US$0.80) to close at NT$1,780 (around US$56.69), setting a new closing high.
United Microelectronics Corporation (聯電) hit the upper limit, closing at NT$76.2 (around US$2.43), while MediaTek (聯發科) ended NT$5 (around US$0.16) higher at NT$1,775 (around US$56.53). Foxconn (鴻海) closed NT$1.5 (around US$0.05) higher at NT$225.5 (around US$7.18), and Delta Electronics (台達電) added NT$20 (around US$0.64) to reach NT$1,250 (around US$39.81). High trading volumes were recorded for Winbond (華邦電), Macronix (旺宏), and Nanya Technology (南亞科), driven by interest in low-orbit satellite themes.
Meanwhile, U.S. markets closed higher on Monday (Jan. 26), with the S&P 500 and Nasdaq posting their longest winning streaks of 2026. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 313.69 points, or 0.64%, to 49,412.4 points. The Nasdaq increased 100.112 points, or 0.43%, to 23,601.356 points, while the S&P 500 gained 34.62 points, or 0.5%, closing at 6,950.23 points. However, the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index fell 30.885 points, or 0.39%, to 7,927.041 points.
