TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang (黃仁勳) made his customary first stop to visit longtime friend Morris Chang (張忠謀), founder of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC, 台積電), on Thursday (Jan. 29) at Chang's Dazhi residence in Taipei. The two tech pioneers, whose friendship spans decades, shared whiskey and cigars during the private reunion. Huang's tradition of visiting Chang first whenever he arrives in Taiwan underscores the deep personal bond between the leaders of the world's most influential chip companies.

The longtime friends continued their reunion over dinner at Rong Ju (榕居), a renowned Cantonese restaurant inside Taipei's Capella Hotel (台北嘉佩樂飯店). Chang, who used a wheelchair during the outing, appeared in good spirits throughout the evening meal. The dinner concluded at 9:16 p.m., after which a visibly happy Huang emerged to greet waiting fans and sign autographs outside the upscale restaurant.

Speaking to reporters afterward, Huang praised the restaurant, calling the dinner "very delicious." His affection for Chang was evident as he expressed delight at seeing his mentor and friend, saying, "He is doing very well. I am happy for him. Talking to Morris always makes you very sharp, and I would learn a lot, always." Asked if he would take Chang to a night market, Huang laughed and said it was "too late," but he might consider it "next time."

Huang is scheduled to attend a meeting at Nvidia's Taiwan office on Friday (Jan. 30), followed by a company year-end party that evening, which he said he eagerly anticipates. The party features dancing, singing, and a raffle for employees. Huang admitted he does not typically dance but said he is willing to try at the celebration.

Huang expressed interest in attending the Taipei Game Show (台北國際電玩展), but acknowledged that his packed schedule prevents him from attending. His four-day visit to Taiwan has drawn significant attention across multiple sectors. Beyond business ties, Huang's unwavering tradition of visiting Chang first reflects a friendship built on mutual respect and admiration that transcends their corporate roles. ◼
