TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Mongolian & Tibetan Cultural Center (文化部蒙藏文化中心) in Taipei's Da'an District (大安區) will unveil its annual highlight exhibition, "Life Never Ends – Contemporary Himalayan Art by Tsherin Sherpa" (生生不息-Tsherin Sherpa的喜馬拉雅當代藝術), on Saturday (Jan. 31). The show, running through May 24, invites Nepalese contemporary artist Tsherin Sherpa to showcase his fusion of Tibetan Buddhist imagery with a modern visual language.

Sherpa, born in Kathmandu, Nepal, has participated in international exhibitions, including the Venice Biennale. The exhibition features 36 works from 2012 to 2025, including paintings, sculptures, and installations. His largest work to date, "The Wish Tree," serves as a tribute to Taiwan, reflecting his deep connection to the land.

Inspired by the 2015 Nepal earthquake, Sherpa hopes "Wish-fulfilling Tree" will commemorate those who perished. This interactive installation invites visitors to write blessings, creating a bridge between personal emotions and cultural memory. Sherpa said his piece, "Skippers" (Knee-Deep), mirrors his experiences and emotions living in the United States, blending traditional and modern elements.

The Mongolian & Tibetan Cultural Center noted that the "Life Never Ends" exhibition focuses on contemporary Himalayan art, exploring global issues such as cultural fluidity and identity. On the opening day, Sherpa will deliver a lecture, accompanied by educational activities and a Mongolian and Tibetan costume experience.

Located in the Mongolian and Tibetan Gallery (蒙藏文化館), the exhibition does not require reservations for individual visits. Groups of 10 or more should apply for a guided tour. This exhibition offers visitors a unique opportunity to engage with the profound themes of cultural identity and memory through Sherpa's innovative art.
