TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A cold front and strong continental cold air mass will arrive in Taiwan on Friday (Feb. 6) evening, the Central Weather Administration (CWA, 中央氣象署) announced. The incoming weather system will cause temperatures to drop noticeably across the island, particularly in northern, northeastern, and eastern regions. The CWA, Taiwan's national weather agency, forecasted mostly cloudy to clear skies from Wednesday to Friday (Feb. 4-6) before the cold front arrives.
The CWA reported that northern, northeastern, and eastern Taiwan will experience the most significant temperature drops when the cold air mass arrives on Friday (Feb. 6) evening. Other regions will also feel the chill in the early morning and at night during this period. From Sunday (Feb. 8) to Monday (Feb. 9), the cold air will continue to impact the island. Cold weather will affect the north, northeast, and east, with other areas experiencing cold mornings and nights.
The CWA noted that scattered showers are expected in the western mountain regions on Sunday (Feb. 8). The strong continental cold air mass will weaken starting Monday (Feb. 9), with temperatures expected to rise slightly across most regions. Temperatures will rebound across the island by Tuesday (Feb. 10), though early mornings and nights will remain relatively cold in central and southern Taiwan. ◼
