TAIPEI (TVBS News) — As spring approaches, Taiwan's "pink storm" is captivating flower enthusiasts eager to witness the early cherry blossom bloom. The Central Weather Administration (CWA, 中央氣象署) already revealed that climate conditions will prompt an early bloom in some areas. Wuling Farm (武陵農場) in Taichung, known for its cherry blossoms, has already seen about 30% of its Kawazu cherry trees bloom since Jan. 25.

Wuling Farm, situated at an altitude between 1,740 and 2,200 meters, has been a prime cherry blossom viewing spot since 1993. Despite the official cherry blossom festival and traffic control measures starting on Feb. 13, visitors are flocking to the farm to catch the early bloom. The main attraction, the "Pink Lady" (粉紅佳人) cherry blossoms, are expected to reach full bloom in mid to late February due to the persistent low temperatures in the mountains.

Visitors can enjoy a picturesque scene of pink cherry blossoms interwoven with white plum blossoms, creating a dreamy landscape. The Taichung City Government has announced a special bus project for the cherry blossom to Wuling Farm to alleviate traffic congestion on Provincial Highway 7A. This initiative aims to make it easier for tourists to enjoy the blossoms without the hassle of traffic.

Wuling Farm offers floral attractions year-round, with peach blossoms in March, pear, plum, and apple blossoms from mid-March to April, and wisteria and roses in May. From June to August, visitors can enjoy peaches, while September through October features pears, apples, camellias, sage, and cosmos. November to December showcases maple leaves and ginkgo, with maple, plum, and wintersweet blossoms from late December to January.

Nestled in central Taiwan, the Wuling area boasts a high-altitude mountainous region surrounded by the Xueshan (雪山) Range. This lush environment supports a diverse array of flora and fauna, including the endangered Formosan landlocked salmon. The gentle terrain of the Wuling Valley and its surrounding peaks provide a sanctuary for this national treasure.

As the cherry blossom season unfolds, visitors to Wuling Farm can anticipate a unique blend of natural beauty and cultural heritage. The early bloom offers a rare opportunity to experience the enchanting "cherry blossom rain" and the harmonious coexistence of cherry and plum blossoms. This season promises to be a memorable one for locals and tourists alike.
