TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP, 民進黨) in Taiwan revamped its leadership on Tuesday (Feb. 24), appointing Tsai Chi-chang (蔡其昌) as the new caucus whip, succeeding Ker Chien-ming (柯建銘). This leadership change marks the end of Ker's prolonged tenure and marks the beginning of a new era for the party.

Tsai expressed gratitude to Ker for his willingness to support the transition, emphasizing a future of more rational and harmonious interactions across party lines. The party also announced Chuang Jui-hsiung (莊瑞雄) as the secretary-general and Fan Yun (范雲) as the chief secretary, signaling a fresh outlook within the party's ranks.

After the meeting, Tsai and Ker shared an embrace, reflecting a united front among the caucus members. Tsai highlighted the importance of strengthening communication between Taiwan’s legislature, the Legislative Yuan (立法院), and the island’s cabinet, the Executive Yuan (行政院), ensuring swift policy responses reach the administrative departments.

Tsai also stated that Ker would serve as the best advisor for the caucus, ready to assist in overcoming future challenges and maintaining party unity. This strategic transition aims to bolster the party's cohesion and efficiency in legislative processes.
