TAIPEI (TVBS News) — WeatherRisk (天氣風險) predicted a shift to cooler, wetter weather across Taiwan starting Tuesday (March 3) as the northeast monsoon strengthens and a cloud system from southern China moves through the region. Lin Hsiao-ju (林孝儒), an analyst for WeatherRisk, noted that increased cloud cover and cooler temperatures will affect the entire island, with the most significant changes in northern Taiwan.
The Central Weather Administration (CWA, 中央氣象署) advised that temperatures in northern and eastern Taiwan will range from 16 to 20 degrees Celsius, while central and southern regions may reach 20 to 26 degrees Celsius. The weather will remain unstable through Wednesday (March 4), with the possibility of brief showers or thunderstorms, particularly in the western coastal areas.
A brief improvement in weather conditions is expected by Thursday (March 5) as the northeast monsoon weakens, leading to warmer temperatures and reduced rainfall in the east. However, the respite will be short-lived, with another front bringing rain and cooler temperatures to northern and eastern Taiwan from Friday (March 6) through the weekend (March 7-8).
The arrival of dry air should ease rain in the east by the weekend, with occasional sunshine, while the west returns to partly cloudy conditions. The CWA advised residents to remain prepared for rapid weather changes and to dress appropriately for the fluctuating temperatures. Lin highlighted the importance of staying alert to transitions in rainfall and temperature associated with passing fronts.
