TAIPEI (TVBS News) — China Airlines (中華航空) unveiled its second Pikachu-themed aircraft, the "Pikachu Jet CI2," in collaboration with The Pokémon Company on Thursday (March. 12). Featuring 13 Pokémon, the aircraft will take its inaugural flight on April 2, with routes from Taoyuan to Tokyo Narita and Seattle.
The aircraft's design draws inspiration from Old Taiwan Tile patterns. The continuous motifs symbolize blessings and showcase Taiwanese craftsmanship, harmonizing with China Airlines' signature plum blossom tail and enhancing the plane's global recognition and aesthetic appeal. Passengers can explore hidden Pokémon within the floral patterns, adding an element of discovery to their journey.
Onboard amenities will also incorporate Pokémon and Taiwan's floral tile elements, offering thoughtful touches in dining mats, mixed nuts, themed cups, headrest covers, and pillowcases. Travelers might receive exclusive Pikachu pens or sticky notes as charming souvenirs. China Airlines plans to introduce these themed items on other flights, including those to Phoenix, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Auckland, Osaka, and Bangkok.
