TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Private weather service WeatherRisk (天氣風險) forecasts stable and warm conditions for Taiwan on Wednesday (March 18), with minimal moisture surrounding the island. The service noted Hualien, Taitung, and Hengchun Peninsula (恆春半島), located in Taiwan's south, will experience more clouds with occasional rain. Other regions will remain mostly sunny to partly cloudy throughout the day.
WeatherRisk predicts increased rainfall and cloudiness in northern, northeastern, and eastern regions starting Thursday (March 19), with possible local showers in mountainous areas. Daytime temperatures in northern and eastern Taiwan will range from 25 to 28 degrees Celsius (77°F to 82.4°F). Central and southern regions may reach 27 to 30 degrees Celsius (80.6°F to 86°F) or higher during the afternoon hours, the forecaster said.
Central Weather Administration (CWA, 中央氣象署), Taiwan's national weather agency, meteorologist Lai Hsin-kuo (賴欣國) said radiative cooling will cause early morning temperatures to drop to 12 to 14 degrees Celsius (53.6°F to 57.2°F) in northern and northeastern areas. Meteorologist Wu Der-rong (吳德榮) highlighted a significant day-night temperature difference, with sunny and slightly warm conditions persisting. Wu added that a weak front will approach from Thursday (March 19) to Saturday (March 21), bringing cooler temperatures to northern Taiwan.
Weather forum TyTech Taiwan | Weather Express (台灣颱風論壇｜天氣特急) reported that conditions will stabilize from Sunday (March 22) to Tuesday (March 24) as high pressure brings southeasterly winds. However, another front may arrive Thursday (March 26), causing weather changes once more. The forum advised residents to stay warm, as nighttime and early morning temperatures will remain cool throughout the period. ◼
