TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Central Weather Administration (CWA, 中央氣象署) issued a gusty wind warning on Wednesday (March 25) for eight counties and cities in western Taiwan, with winds exceeding level 6 (39-49 km/h) expected through Thursday (March 26) morning. The warning covers Taoyuan City, Hsinchu City, Hsinchu County, Miaoli County, Taichung City, Changhua County, Yunlin County, and the offshore Penghu County (澎湖縣). The CWA advises outdoor workers to secure loose items and drive cautiously, anticipating potential public transportation delays across affected areas.
A northeast monsoon will bring cooler conditions Thursday (March 26), with temperatures rising during the day as the system moves through the region. Eastern Taiwan will experience scattered showers, particularly along the Keelung North Coast and the Hengchun Peninsula (恆春半島) in southern Taiwan. The first wave of a frontal system currently affects Taiwan, stretching from seas south of Japan to Taiwan's eastern offshore waters and increasing moisture levels, the CWA noted.
Another weak front will pass through Friday (March 27), cooling temperatures in northern and northeastern Taiwan with brief showers expected in these areas and the Hengchun Peninsula. The northeast monsoon will continue influencing weather patterns Saturday (March 28), bringing cooler temperatures and scattered showers to northern, northeastern, and eastern regions. The Greater Taipei mountainous areas will also experience precipitation as the system persists through the weekend.
The northeast monsoon will weaken starting Sunday (March 29), allowing temperatures to rise slightly across most of Taiwan as the weather system loses intensity. Eastern regions and the Hengchun Peninsula will still experience sporadic showers despite the weakening monsoon conditions affecting the island. A more structured front will impact Taiwan by Tuesday (March 31), bringing cooler weather and brief showers from northern to northeastern regions of the island.
