TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A weather front and strengthening northeast monsoon are bringing cooler temperatures and rain to northern Taiwan on Friday (March 27), according to the Central Weather Administration (CWA, 中央氣象署). Keelung's north coast and areas north of Taichung face brief showers or isolated thunderstorms, with heavier rain likely from early morning to noon. Meteorologists warn the unstable pattern will intensify ahead of the Qingming holiday.

Meteorologist Lin De-en (林得恩) warns that the weather will turn unstable starting Tuesday (March 31) due to a spring rain front and the South China rain belt. Increased moisture could trigger strong winds or thunderstorms across Taiwan, Lin stated. With the Qingming holiday, Taiwan's traditional tomb-sweeping festival, approaching, experts urge residents to monitor forecasts and prepare for potential severe weather.

Meteorologist Wu Der-rong (吳德榮) forecasts localized rain in central and northern Taiwan, with brief showers possible in the southern mountains. Sunny conditions will return by Monday (March 30), he stated. However, Wu predicts the Qingming holiday weekend could bring thunderstorms, strong winds, and sudden downpours that may disrupt outdoor activities.

Nationwide clearing is expected Sunday (March 29) and Monday, with occasional brief showers limited to the east, Wu added. Another front approaches Monday, potentially bringing localized showers to northern Taiwan. From Tuesday to Wednesday (April 1), the front will affect central, northern, and eastern regions, bringing cooler temperatures and a chance of showers or thunderstorms. ◼
