TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Invest Taiwan (投資台灣事務所), the government's investment promotion agency, approved expansion plans for four companies on Friday (March 27), totaling nearly NT$3.9 billion (around US$122 million) in new investments. Taiwan First Biotechnology Inc. (台灣第一生化科技), Fenghsi (豐喜食品), Guey Meei Paint (貴美塗料), and CCI Corp (金新工業) will expand operations in food manufacturing, materials application, and green packaging sectors. The projects will create 64 new jobs across Taiwan.

The Ministry of Economic Affairs' Department of Investment Promotion (經濟部投資促進司) announced that Nice Group's (耐斯集團) Taiwan First Biotechnology will invest over NT$3.6 billion (around US$112.6 million) in the Chiayi Dapumei Smart Industrial Park (嘉義大埔美智慧型工業園區). The new facility will employ 42 workers, focusing on smart and green production. AI systems will enhance efficiency, while solar power and energy-saving equipment will reduce energy consumption.

 

Fenghsi plans to invest NT$100 million (around US$3.1 million) in a new factory in the Chiayi Machouhou Industrial Park (嘉義馬稠後產業園區), targeting the functional food market driven by an aging society. The company will produce soy protein jelly, employing AI inspection and energy monitoring systems, adding 10 jobs. Guey Meei Paint will invest NT$46 million (around US$1.4 million) in its Yunlin plant, introducing AI color matching and solvent recycling to improve resource efficiency, creating two jobs.

CCI Corp, specializing in food packaging, will invest NT$89 million (around US$2.8 million) in Taichung's Qingshui District (清水) to expand production lines. The company will implement smart equipment and energy-saving measures, including LED lighting, enhancing production efficiency and customization capabilities while adding 10 jobs. These expansions align with Taiwan's push for low-carbon transformation and green manufacturing.

 
The Three Major Programs for Investing in Taiwan (投資台灣三大方案) have attracted 1,733 companies, investing around NT$2.648 trillion (around US$82.9 billion) and creating approximately 164,264 local jobs. The Action Plan for Welcoming Overseas Taiwanese Businesses (根留台灣企業加速投資行動方案) saw 214 companies invest NT$616.2 billion (around US$19.3 billion), generating 28,209 jobs, while the Action Plan for Accelerated Investment by SMEs (中小企業加速投資行動方案) drew 1,175 companies with NT$600.1 billion (around US$18.8 billion), creating 41,478 jobs. ◼ (At time of reporting, US$1 equals approximately NT$31.96 and 1 euro equals around NT$36.84)
