TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's weather shifts toward summer-like heat starting Wednesday (April 8) as the northeast monsoon weakens, the Central Weather Administration (CWA, 中央氣象署) said. The agency reported sporadic showers in northern and northeastern regions, with scattered rain expected in eastern and mountain areas throughout the day. Other parts of the island will see cloudy skies after brief morning showers.

The CWA projected mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies from Thursday through Monday, with considerable temperature differences between day and night. Northern Taoyuan and northeastern regions may experience isolated showers on Saturday. Temperatures could reach 30°C (86°F) over the next five to seven days, with western Taiwan possibly feeling like summer, according to the Facebook page "TyTech Taiwan | Weather Express" (台灣颱風論壇|天氣特急).

Meteorologist Wu Der-rong (吳德榮) cautioned that remnants of a weather front still lingered near Taiwan, causing isolated rain showers Wednesday morning. He warned of scorching summer-like temperatures from Thursday through Tuesday, advising caution against sun exposure. The weakening of the northeast monsoon and the Pacific high-pressure system's westward expansion will steadily warm Taiwan's weather, meteorologist Lin De-en (林得恩) noted.

Lin said the high-pressure system's expansion will stabilize conditions and gradually increase temperatures. From Thursday to Monday, reduced moisture will result in early summer-like heat across the island. Residents should prepare for warmer conditions and take precautions against prolonged sun exposure during outdoor activities. ◼
