TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A southeastern wind brought warm and rainy weather to Taiwan on Tuesday (April 28), the Central Weather Administration (CWA, 中央氣象署) reported. The eastern and southeastern regions, along with the Hengchun Peninsula (恆春半島), can expect sporadic showers or thunderstorms. The rest of the island will see partly cloudy to clear skies as temperatures range from 28°C to 33°C (82°F to 91°F), with western regions experiencing larger day-to-night variations.

The northeastern monsoon will strengthen on Wednesday, cooling the north and east, the CWA said. Rainfall will expand across the island as the southern region and mountainous areas continue seeing afternoon thunderstorms. Meteorologist Lin De-en (林得恩) predicted that southern areas near mountains might see higher temperatures before a significant weather shift brings showers or thunderstorms island-wide.

Visibility might decrease in Matsu (馬祖) due to low clouds or fog, prompting caution for residents, Lin said. TyTech Taiwan | Weather Express (台灣颱風論壇|天氣特急) predicted a mobile front will impact Taiwan from Wednesday to Thursday, bringing widespread rain. Before the front passes, a prevailing southern wind will cause high temperatures and humidity. A temporary northeastern wind will bring cooler and more comfortable weather once it moves through on Thursday. ◼
