TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang (黃仁勳) will meet with Quanta Computer Chairman Barry Lam (林百里) on Monday (May 25) as the first stop of his supply chain tour, with meetings with TSMC Chairman C.C. Wei (魏哲家) and other key partners scheduled through the week. His itinerary includes a supplier banquet on Thursday and a keynote at Taipei Music Center on Sunday.
Huang arrived in Taiwan on Saturday aboard a private jet and attended a developer event in Nangang that same day. He dined Sunday evening with TSMC founder Morris Chang (張忠謀) before making an unannounced visit to Raohe Night Market (饒河夜市) in Taipei. "I'm really looking forward to seeing Morris Chang. I will definitely see him, and I will definitely meet with C.C. Wei," Huang told reporters before the dinner.
The Quanta visit marks the first time Huang has made the server manufacturer his first supply chain stop, ahead of even TSMC. Quanta Vice Chairman Simon Liang (梁次震) will also attend the meeting, according to the Economic Daily. Industry observers expect the two companies to deepen collaboration on Nvidia's upcoming Vera Rubin computing platform.
Huang is scheduled to meet Wei on Tuesday and attend a Taipei City Government event on Wednesday, according to various sources. Foxconn (鴻海) and Wistron (緯創) are also expected to be on his visit list. Partners who cannot secure individual meetings will be invited to Thursday's banquet.
Huang is also expected to participate in Computex activities and confirmed he will attend a groundbreaking ceremony for Nvidia's new Taipei headquarters, according to Mnews. Specific dates for those events have not been disclosed.
At Raohe Night Market on Sunday, Huang was accompanied by his wife Lori and daughter Madison Huang (黃敏珊). The family sampled pepper buns, grilled sausage, grilled squid, and shaved ice. Crowds gathered to take photos with the tech executive. "He paid NT$1,000 (around US$32) and treated about 10 groups of customers," a grilled corn vendor told Mnews. "We were so happy we treated another 15 groups ourselves."
When asked about Chang's health, Huang said the 94-year-old TSMC founder appeared well. "He's good. He looks great," Huang told reporters. Huang's Taiwan visits have become closely watched events in the tech industry, and his night market outings have drawn large crowds in previous years. Details on the guest list and venue for Thursday's supplier banquet were not immediately available. ◼ (At time of reporting, US$1 equals approximately NT$31.43)
