TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Following the second "party-to-party" talk on Wednesday morning between the Taiwan People's Party (TPP) and the Kuomintang (KMT), the Ma Ying-jeou Foundation announced that nationwide polling will be conducted to determine the best presidential candidate for the KMT-TPP coalition.

The cross-party discussion, witnessed by former President Ma Ying-jeou at his foundation's venue, included TPP candidate Ko Wen-je, KMT candidate Hou Yu-ih, and KMT chair Eric Chu. This meeting marked a significant convergence, despite previous disagreements between Chu and Ko over polling methods.

Lin Kuan-Yu, chair of the KMT Culture and Media Committee, outlined the procedure for selecting the joint party candidate, which will be based on polling results from both parties and external organizations.

To guarantee fairness, the talk concluded with an agreement to include opinions from both sides in the vote calculation, including input from Ma Ying-jeou. This process will be overseen by polling experts from both parties to ensure accuracy, according to Lin.

The experts will consider all polls conducted from November 7 to 17, with the final results expected to be officially released on Saturday by the Ma Ying-jeou Foundation.

The meeting concluded with both parties reaffirming their commitment to setting an example for Taiwan's third wave of democratic reform. This includes forming a coalition government based on shared national visions and policies.
