TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan experienced its third lowest average rainfall days for November since records began in 1951, the Central Weather Administration (CWA) said in a climate review posted on Tuesday (Dec. 6).

The island averaged only 5.9 rainy days last month, the CWA stated, highlighting a noticeable deviation from the norm for this time of the year.

According to a Facebook post made by the CWA, fluctuating cold and warm temperatures characterized November's climate. Isolated showers occurred primarily on the windward sides of the eastern and northern parts of Taiwan, influenced by the occasional strengthening of weather fronts and the northeast Monsoon.

The CWA noted that the average monthly temperature across Taiwan was normal, at 23.0 degrees Celsius. This figure is slightly above the climate average of 22.7 degrees.

Taiwan's cumulative rainfall also presented a significant shortfall, the CWA pointed out. The country's average rainfall for November was well below the climatic average of 110.6 millimeters. Keelung was the only observation station to reach 90% of its climatic value for rainfall.

Specifically, the Taitung station recorded its lowest number of rainy days for the period, while the Pengjia Islet and Hsinchu stations had their second lowest. Meanwhile, the Hengchun station reported its third-lowest tally of rainy days in history for November.
