TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Huang Shan-shan, head of the Taiwan People's Party (TPP) campaign headquarters, created a stir in the presidential race by revealing internal polling data on Saturday (Dec. 9). Huang claimed that the TPP's Ko-Ying ticket is now in second place, challenging previous poll results.

During a broadcast on the TPP's "KP Show," Huang disclosed that the Democratic Progressive Party's (DPP) Lai-Hsiao ticket leads with a 29.9% support rate, closely followed by the Ko-Ying ticket at 27.6%, with the Kuomintang's (KMT) Hou-Kang ticket trailing at 24.3%.

However, this internal polling strategy faced criticism today from Shih Hsin University communications professor Yu Tzu-hsiang, who criticized Huang's propagandistic move in a Facebook post.

Professor Yu argued that the KMT has displayed higher momentum as a unified force, in contrast to TPP candidate Ko Wen-je's declining support following the failed KMT-TPP coalition. Yu suggested that Ko should focus on boosting public and media attention through more vigorous campaign activities rather than relying solely on internal polls for promotional leverage.
