TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A 70-year-old man named Liu, who was preparing for a business trip to Japan with nearly NT$1 million in various currencies, reported his lost backpack on Friday (Dec. 8) after a short trip to Taichung.
Liu had traveled to Taichung to have his clothing repaired while enjoying a brief stay before returning home to Nantou. Upon preparing to leave, he discovered that his backpack was missing and promptly reported it to the police.
Fortunately, a convenience store clerk found the unattended backpack while cleaning up tables. After securing the bag and finding no owner, the clerk inspected its contents, discovering a significant amount of money, including Japanese Yen, U.S. dollars, and Chinese Yuan, totaling nearly NT＄1 million.
Coincidentally, the First Precinct Taichung City Police Department, already assisting Mr. Liu in locating his lost item, was alerted by the convenience store about the discovery.
