TAIPEI (TVBS News) — WeatherRisk reported Wednesday (Dec. 27) that the shift of clouds in the south will result in generally cloudy weather on the island.

The weather might also bring sporadic rainfall in the mountains of central and southern Taiwan.

In the early hours of Wednesday, as the center of the continental cold air mass moved out to sea along the coast of China, the impactful cold air around Taiwan weakened.

Minimal low temperatures began to rise, generally lying between 14-16 degrees Celsius. The Liyu Lake in Hualien and Luye Township in Taitung saw temperatures of 11 and 12.4 degrees, respectively.

Later on Wednesday, the continued shift of the clouds in the south might slightly enhance the chance of rainfall in the central and southern regions. It might also affect the eastern areas, resulting in sporadic downpours.

With no significant weather systems nearby, Taiwan sees an increase in daytime temperatures under the influence of the northeast to east winds. Northern regions will see temperatures of 23-26 degrees, with the central and southern regions also hovering around 24-26 degrees.

On Friday, environmental moisture is set to decrease gradually under the influence of the northeast monsoon. Though most parts of Taiwan will be cloudy, some sporadic rainfall is possible.

On Saturday, the start of the New Year holiday, the northeast monsoon will weaken, further raising the temperature, while resulting in mostly cloudy weather. Only the eastern parts may witness sporadic rainfall.

However, Sunday will see a stronger northeast monsoon, resulting in stable but cloudy weather with sporadic showers in eastern Taiwan.

On New Year's Day next Monday, Taiwan will witness generally sunny to cloudy weather under the influence of the northeast monsoon, with no significant chance of rain.

The general public is advised to consider this weather information when planning holiday activities.
