TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Low temperatures prompted the Central Weather Administration (CWA) to issue cold advisories on Tuesday (Jan. 2) morning, warning of possible temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius in Taoyuan City, Hsinchu County, and Miaoli County.

Clear and stable weather was reported everywhere else on Tuesday, with daytime temperatures rising but remaining cool in the morning and evening. Rain areas are expected to expand starting Wednesday.

The lowest temperature across Taiwan on Tuesday morning was recorded at 8.4 degrees in Guanxi Township, Hsinchu. Temperatures north of Tainan and in Yilan and Hualien ranged generally between 12 and 14 degrees, with possibilities of temperatures from 9 to 11 degrees in Hsinchu and Miaoli. Kaohsiung, Pingtung, and Taitung experienced temperatures around 15 to 16 degrees. A considerable temperature difference between day and night is observed in the western half of Taiwan.

Regarding precipitation, intermittent and brief rainfall was reported only in northeastern and eastern areas.

Thursday's weather is expected to be mostly cloudy and then clear in the north, while the south will have steady, clear weather. The eastern half of the country may still experience occasional rainfall. Both Friday and Saturday are anticipated to be clear and steady all over Taiwan.

The next wave of cold air, still at the "northeast monsoon" level, is set to briefly impact northern and eastern Taiwan on Sunday and Monday. As the intensity of this cold wave is still being adjusted, residents should continue to monitor weather conditions.
