KAOHSIUNG (TVBS News) — The beloved rubber duck created by Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman made a much-anticipated return to Love River Bay in Kaohsiung after a decade, attracting over 600,000 attendees in the first two days of the exhibition, the Kaohsiung City Tourism Bureau said on Monday (Jan. 29).

According to the city's Tourism Bureau, the event's opening day on Jan. 27 welcomed 320,000 visitors, and 280,000 on the next day.

The bureau's director, Kao Min-lin noted the event, named "2024 Kaohsiung Wonderland," will include more than just the two popular inflatable yellow ducks. Add-ons include a bouncy castle, a yellow ball pit, a small train ride, street performances, and a food market. The event will run until Feb. 25.

Kao said the two rubber ducks are to bring double joy to the attendees. The agency has also introduced a "Duck Watching Combat Strategy," including recommendations for the five best locations to view them.

Free park tickets are distributed daily at 2 p.m. at Pier 16-18. The openings are from 3 to 6 p.m., Monday to Thursday. And from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday to Sunday and during the first to fifth day of Chinese New Year.

Kaohsiung Rapid Transit Corporation reported that the first two days of the exhibition brought almost record-high single-day light rail usage—close to the records set in the 2022 New Year. The two-day total exceeded 137,000 rides.

In addition to daytime activities, there is a duck-themed light show for night-time enjoyment along the Love River Bay.
