TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A transfer bridge on the Wenhu Line at the Zhongxiao Fuxing station of the Taipei Metro experienced a swarm of commuters on Tuesday (Jan. 30) morning.

The swarm was triggered by the failure of an automated train on the Wenhu Line at the Zhongxiao Fuxing station to depart as scheduled. Officials from the Taipei Metro immediately asked the about 300 passengers onboard to disembark and arranged for them to board subsequent trains. Regular operations resumed on the scene shortly afterward.

The compromised train was moved to a siding. Initial investigations by maintenance workers suggest that there was a communication disruption with the vehicle control unit, which caused the train to trigger its self-protection mode and stop. The culprit for the incident will be analyzed in more detail after the day’s operations have come to an end.

When the incident happened, an online user posted on social media that they had to wait for three trains at the Daan station before being able to board. Another online user also added that the train at the Technology Building metro station had also abruptly stopped for a certain period.
