TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The northeastern monsoon has brought cooler temperatures across Taiwan on Friday (Feb. 16), with the north experiencing lows of 12-13 degrees Celsius, according to WeatherRisk, a private meteorology firm.

Southern and central regions, as well as eastern areas of the country, are slightly warmer due to greater cloud coverage with temperatures ranging from 14 to 17 degrees, the firm stated.

The WeatherRisk predicts Friday's daytime highs to ascend to 15-17 degrees in the north, 21-25 degrees in the center, 24-27 degrees in the south, and 18-23 degrees in the east.

With the northeast monsoon expected to weaken tomorrow, all areas will likely see improving conditions and largely sunny to partially cloudy weather. Radiation cooling will impact northern regions, thereby driving down temperatures to around 12 degrees.

The WeatherRisk also reports that temperatures around the country will gradually rise next week. By next Wednesday, temperatures in southern and central Taiwan could reach 30 degrees, while the north and east could see highs between 27 and 28 degrees.

However, as a front approaches next Thursday, brief local showers are anticipated in the northern and eastern halves of the island. In most other places, conditions are forecast to remain largely cloudy to sunny.
