TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's Ministry of Education (MOE) has recently revised the 'Regulations for the Individual Recruitment of Universities,' (大學單獨招生申請作業要點) declaring it will no longer allow universities to evaluate and handle their admissions independently.

On Wednesday (March. 6), the MOE explained that sub-replacement fertility diminished the effectiveness of independent admissions for private high schools. Consequently, they will cease to receive such applications starting February 2024.

Although universities can no longer conduct individual recruitment, exceptions are made for religious, artistic, and athletic sectors.

Moreover, newly established or reconstructed schools and departments can still recruit students independently.

The MOE emphasizes the latest regulation will not affect institutions that have previously gained permission to organize independent admissions, such as CTBC Business School, Kainan University, and Huafan University.
