TAIPEI (TVBS News) — In anticipation of the increased travel demand during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday from June 7 to June 11, the Taiwan High Speed Rail Corporation announced Wednesday (May 22) that it will add five extra train services to accommodate passengers.

Tickets for these additional trains, which include three southbound and two northbound services, will be available for purchase starting May 24.

Enhanced Travel Services for the Holiday

Throughout the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, the Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR) will operate 881 train services, including 52 additional southbound and 60 northbound trains, to ensure travelers can move efficiently during this busy period.

Passengers can buy tickets through various channels, including the T-EX Mobile Ticketing APP, partner convenience stores, online booking systems, or directly at the station during business hours.

Preparations for High Demand

The THSR will continue to refresh the availability of reserved seats across all trains on its website. Additionally, each train will have two to eight non-reserved seating carriages.

To address the high demand for non-reserved seats, especially during peak times such as the afternoon and evening of June 7, the morning of June 8, and the afternoon and evening of June 10, the THSR will expand its capacity in these segments. Moreover, the company will provide real-time updates on station crowd information, indicating when crowd control measures for non-reserved seats are in effect with yellow or red lights.

The THSR also reminded passengers that some night trains will operate beyond the usual last train schedule due to the enhanced services during the transportation period. Travelers planning to ride at night should pay attention to arrival times and arrange their onward transportation accordingly.

This initiative aims to ensure a smooth and efficient travel experience for all passengers during one of Taiwan's most celebrated holidays.
